Champagne: A Journey from Terroir to Luxury

Ever wonder what truly makes Champagne the world's most celebrated sparkling wine? Go beyond the bubbles in this comprehensive three-part master class series designed for passionate wine enthusiasts.

Join us on an educational journey that explores Champagne's historic roots, the intricate craft behind its creation, and its dynamic future. Each 1.5-hour class includes a guided tasting of six exceptional wines, carefully selected to bring the core concepts to life.

Our Three-Class Series:

  • Class 1: Champagne's Roots – Terroir, History & Grapes Discover what makes Champagne's terroir unique, from its northerly latitude to its famous Cretaceous chalk soils. We'll uncover the true legacy of historical figures like Dom Pérignon and the influential "Widows" such as Madame Clicquot. Through tasting, you will learn the distinct roles of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier and understand the difference between large Houses (Maisons) and small Growers (Vignerons).

  • Class 2: The Cellar's Craft – Blending, Bubbles & Balance Explore the alchemy of the Traditional Method and the art of blending (assemblage) that creates a consistent house style. We will delve into the crucial role of reserve wines and the modern "Multi-Vintage Revolution" led by producers like Louis Roederer and Jacquesson. You will taste the stylistic difference between wines that undergo malolactic fermentation (for a creamy profile) and those that do not (for bright, zingy acidity).

  • Class 3: Champagne Today & Tomorrow – Style, Sustainability & Luxury Journey through a world of diverse styles, comparing the two methods of producing Rosé Champagne (assemblage vs. macération) and exploring the impact of oak and the trend toward drier, "Brut Nature" bottlings. Learn how the region is adapting to climate change with sustainable practices and innovative new grape varieties, and discuss Champagne's enduring status as a global luxury icon.

The Tasting Experience:

Each class features a curated tasting of six exceptional Champagnes. You will experience a unique lineup that balances iconic Grande Marques with acclaimed "rock star" growers, giving you a complete picture of the region's diversity.

Who Should Attend:

This series is perfect for any wine lover seeking to build a strong foundational understanding and conversational fluency about Champagne.
