Local Event
Cost: $40++ per person, per class
What is Christmas without tamales? While Macayo’s is famous for serving its delicious tamales, this year, they are helping guests make their own! Macayo’s Tamalada events are inspired by traditional tamale-making parties during which groups of family and friends gather to make and assemble scratch-made tamales. Macayo’s Tamalada class schedule is as follows:
Saturday, Nov. 19, 3 p.m. — Superstition Springs location
Saturday, Dec. 3, 3 p.m. — Scottsdale location
Saturday, Dec. 10, 3 p.m. — Glendale location
Saturday, Dec. 17, 3 p.m. — Scottsdale location
Cost is $40 per person; groups are minimum of four and limited to 32 guests per class. Class includes a pitcher of Macayo’s margaritas per group and lunch. During the class, tamales will be cooked onsite and finished for class participants to take home and enjoy. Tickets are available beginning Wednesday, Nov. 9 at macayo.com/shop/event-tickets.
Tamale lovers are also encouraged to host their own tamalada gathering — and Macayo’s will take care of all the prep work! Tamale kits are available for purchase for $15 each and include everything guests need to make six full-size tamales (per kit) including complete instructions and choice of red beef or green corn. A 48-hour pre-order is required. Visit macayo.com/tamalada for complete details.
