Summer’s heat makes refreshment especially welcome, and wines with a touch lower ABV (alcohol by volume) deliver it. And, when chosen carefully, they do that job with plenty of richness, flavor and satisfaction and no funny business to suck out alcohol and replace it with sugar and more. This weekend we’re featuring a dozen wines that deliver higher flavor satisfaction and lower ABV with style and integrity.
On Friday our Chain Bridge Cellars team will pour five selections from our two Lower ABV six-pack features from 3-7pm.
Then, on Saturday from noon-4pm, you can taste the full dozen featured wines as our good friends Ed Addiss from Wine Traditions and Rob McFarlane from Potomac Selections pour:
Lower ABV White Selections
Lower ABV Red Selections
All the wines will be on sale at super savings, including the very lowest prices when you take home either (or both of!) our white or red Summer 2024 Lower-ABV Six Packs.
All of our lower ABV selections are built to handle big flavors, so Jose has picked out a cheese to sample with the wines that fits the bill perfectly. During both tastings you’ll have the chance to try Mimolette 18 month. Bright orange in the middle resembling the Dutch cheese Edam, Mimoletter is a cow's milk cheese from France. Aged for 18 months, the aroma is strong and sharp but with mild fruity and nutty notes on the palate. Looks like an aged gouda but brighter on the palate and not as crystallized. A cheese that may make you a little thirsty. With wines that leave you hungering for more. Come find a new favorite Lower ABV wine (and a great cheese pairing, too!).
