Cost: $1075 for six three-hour certification courses; 10% discount through Sept. 8
The New York Wine Studio is the only wine school in New York City to offer the Italian Wine Scholar (IWS) certification program live. The IWS program is comprised of four parts: Central and Southern Italy, which will be offered this fall, and Northern Italy, which will be offered in Spring, 2024. A 10% Early Bird discount for the Central & Southern Italy class series -- which begins on Mon., Oct. 9 -- is being offered until Friday, September 8th.
Created and administered by the Wine Scholar Guild, The Italian Wine Scholar is considered the most comprehensive educational program on Italian wine. It covers Italy’s 20 regions, all key appellations, grape varieties, viticultural practices, and cultural/historical background. The IWS program is geared toward wine professionals, as well as collectors and aficionados.
The inaugural Central & Southern Italy program consists of six 3-hour sessions, on Mondays from 2:00-5:00 pm, starting on Oct. 9th and culminating with a final exam on Dec 18th.
· Each class will feature 8-10 wines carefully selected to illustrate key material;
· The final exam will be given one month after the last class; students who pass both sections with a median score of 75% attain the IWS post-nominal;
· The cost of the program is $1,075.00, payable in advance; a 10% discount is being offered through September 8th, using the registration code EARLYBIRD10; those that take advantage of the EARLYBIRD10 will also receive a 10% discount on any one of these four additional individual classes offered by the New York Wine Studio.
Instructor Alan Tardi taught the Italian Wine Scholar program online for the Wine Scholar Guild for six years.
