This introductory class explores the basics of wine, including a review of the world’s major wine producing regions, grape variety differences, wine-making styles, and the mechanics of tasting and sensory evaluation. Participants will learn how to distinguish the various elements of wine and how to recognize the qualities and complexities of better wines. The class will help students make more informed selections from wine lists and wine retailers.
Wines from around the world will be tasted during weeks 2 through 5 so bring two wine glasses beginning with the second class.
