David Basse & City Light Orchestra

Vocalist and drummer, David Basse has deep family ties to

Nebraska, where he started his professional musical career at the age of 14. In 2017, David and his band returned to Nebraska, where he was inducted into The Nebraska Music Hall of Fame. In 2018, he was invited to Ger- many and Poland in honor of Kansas City’s recent UNESCO World Music City classification. In Germany, he sang with a 16-piece orchestra to a crowd of 40,000, and the following day they performed at a beautiful winery, much like Holy-Field, in Poland.

“The soul of a bon vivant and the spirit of a hipster...Basse scats with insouciance reel you into ballads with a raconteur’s charm.” – George Kansler, Hot House Magazine, New York

With several albums to his credit and successful career in radio, David has a warm and inviting voice that draws listeners in. The 2017-2018 Kansas City Symphony season presented David in performance with internationally known vocalist Deborah Brown and

Grammy-nominated saxophonist Bobby Watson. After traveling widely, sharing the stage with some of the top names in the jazz world, David is excited to again open-up the Summertime Series at Holy-Field, May 17, and trilled the series continues to improve year after year.
