This intensive 12-hour program offers an in-depth exploration of Spain’s most exciting terroirs and Grand Crus. Led by Master of Wine Dilek Caner, the course provides a current, detailed understanding of Spanish wine, including terroir, history, culture, and key developments shaping Spain’s wine world today.

By earning the Grandes Pagos de España Terroir Workshop Certificate, you validate your expertise in Spanish wine and distinguish yourself with a focused, industry-recognized specialization.

Certification, Pricing & Exams

Certification Options

• Full Certification Course: $395 plus sales tax (vs. $430 plus sales tax if taken as individual modules)
• Individual Modules: $80–$95 plus sales tax, depending on topic

Exams

• Each module includes a 15-minute exam
• Minimum passing score: 70%
• Certification is awarded after successful completion of all modules and exams

Class Format: Live, In Person or Online

• All sessions are taught live
• Attend in person or online on the same date and time
• Full participation and Q&A included for both formats

Wine Samples

Each session features wines from Grandes Pagos de España member wineries and distance learners receive 2 oz wine samples.

Select sessions may include a guest GPE winemaker

Meseta North

Wed Mar 11, 6:30–8:00 pm & Thu Mar 12, 6:30–8:30 pm

Meseta North focuses on north-central Spain’s high-elevation, continental wine regions, known for structured reds from Ribera del Duero and Toro and fresh whites from Rueda.

Green Spain & the Ebro River Valley

Wed Mar 25, 6:30–8:45 pm

Explores Spain’s Atlantic-influenced north and historic inland regions, with a focus on Albariño, Txakoli, Rioja, and emerging Ebro Valley appellations.

Catalonia

Wed Apr 8, 6:30–8:45 pm

Covers Catalonia’s diverse wine styles, including Priorat, Penedès, Catalunya, Costers del Segre, and the evolution of Cava.

Mediterranean & Meseta Central

Wed Apr 22, 6:30–8:00 pm & Thu Apr 23, 6:30–8:30 pm

Examines Mediterranean varieties and the Vinos de Pago classification through estate-based producers in Meseta Central.

Southern Spain & the Islands

Wed May 6, 6:30–8:45 pm

Explores southern Spain beyond fortified wines, including dry Pedro Ximénez, Tintilla de Rota, Sherry, and island wines from Mallorca.
