Local Event Premier Host
On Saturday, September 25, FOUND:RE Contemporary and FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, located at 1100 North Central Avenue, debut the “Water/Air: A Visual and Audio Landscape Exhibition,” featuring artists Shomit Barua, Ann Osgood, and Brianna Voron.
The second of two landscape exhibitions at FOUND:RE Contemporary — the freestanding art gallery located off Portland Street adjacent to FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel — the show debuts with an opening reception from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25 and runs through Saturday, November 27.
“In serving our mission to support the local art scene, we are also always looking to present cutting edge art to our community,” says FOUND:RE Contemporary Curator Audrey Galat. “This exhibit is a stunning example of how technology, artistic tradition and unlimited creativity combine in a unique and intriguing way.”
Highlighting how natural elements are used in art and melding two elemental forces, “Water/Air: A Visual and Audio Landscape Exhibition” celebrates how the forces of nature can be used to create conventional and unconventional landscape art. Through the use of watercolor and acrylic (an element of water), artists Osgood and Voron capture the seemingly mundane as well as the extraordinary through the movement of water and painting medium. During the opening reception, sound artist Barua, using yet another element (air), maps different types of spaces through sound waves, including both a digital landscape and a surround-sound piece responsive to its environment.
The exhibition can be viewed without appointment Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. by visiting the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel’s front desk.
