August marks the peak of the tomato season in New Jersey — a month when every meal is made more delicious, and beautiful, by the addition of super flavorful, field-ripened Jersey tomatoes. To celebrate the tomato harvest at Ironbound Farm, we’re hosting a chef-driven tasting that showcases the range of colors and flavors represented in the 40+ tomato cultivars we’re growing this year at our farm.

Join Chef Andrew Mercado, the master of primitive wood-fired cooking, and Ironbound Chef-Farmer Alec Gioseffi for a fireside dining event that allows our guests to interact with our chefs as they craft innovative tomato-centric tapas on our Argentinian-inspired outdoor cooking hearth — affectionately known as the Motherfire. For this intimate event, we’re giving our chefs free range to improvise, experiment, and respond to the culinary curiosity (and sense of adventure) of our guests.

Twelve tapas plates will be served, each featuring seasonal produce that was grown and foraged on our farm. Ironbound’s ciders, wines, and seltzers will be available for purchase throughout the evening, along with a selection of Ironbound cider cocktails prepared with seasonal botanicals.

Come celebrate Jersey’s summertime harvest with us and experience the depth of flavor that is only possible when fresh produce is grown in rich, healthy soils that are teeming with life.

Join us, along with farmers and chefs from around the state, for Festomato, the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey’s (NOFA-NJ) annual harvest festival that celebrates the history, cultivation, and enjoyment of Garden State tomatoes. We are honored to host this year’s Festomato, where we will be offering walking tours of Ironbound Farm and a special tasting room menu featuring heritage pork that’s been slow roasted at the Motherfire.
