Local Event Premier Host
What happens when we ask Chef Jacques to cook from his heart and French/Algerian “Petit Noir” heritage and then pair up wines with his creations? Well, not your usual wine dinner! Instead it’s a six-course, six-wine, North African extravaganza! All for $150 per person including tax and tip.
For our next wine dinners at La Cote d’Or restaurant we’re doing something different. We began by asking Chef Jacques to dig back into his personal memories of favorite dishes from his family’s time living in Algeria in the early 1960s. Then, once he’d crafted his menu, good friend and very experienced food/wine guy Rob McFarlane and I proposed wines to match the dishes. The three of us tasted, picked our favorite pairings, and – in a few cases – Jacques tweaked the dishes to make for more perfect pairings.
Here's what Chef came up with (warning – mouthwatering alert!)
Chick pea, served with olive oil
Dom de Fenouillet Cotes de Ventoux Rosé 2022
Crispy dough, shrimp, saffron, onion, garlic, cilantro
Green olives, pine nuts, Bell peppers salad, lemon dressing
Ch de Roquefort Petit Sale 2022
Grilled Branzino Chermoula, Doubara Biskra chickpeas
La Croix Gratiot Pays d'Herault Blanc Les Zazous 2020
Spicy beef sausage, pearl couscous, orange zests eggplant, crispy baguettes
Ch Massiac Minervois Rouge 2020
Cardamom, figs, potato, carrot, turnips, zucchini, butternut squash
Roucas Toumba Vacqueyras Grande Terre 2021
Coconut ice cream, toasted almond, candied orange,
Caramel coconut sauce
Dom de Fenouillet Muscat Beaumes de Venise 2022
Chef promises to keep the portions at the right size so you can enjoy the full meal. And having tasted the flavors he’ll be serving I can guarantee you’ll want to enjoy every bite! Rob McFarlane from our partner importer Potomac Selections will be sharing the story behind each wine. And Chef Jacques will make sure we understand the heritage and preparation of each dish.
