Château Mondésir-Gazin, situated on clay-limestone hillsides facing the estuary, is a modern estate with ideal vineyard plots benefiting from the oceanic climate. This location shields the vines from frost and hail, providing an optimal growing environment. The estate’s red wines are predominantly crafted from Merlot, which thrives in the terroir, producing powerful, rounded wines with deep red hues and rich aromas of red fruits that evolve into spicy notes with age. Malbec is also blended to enhance the wine’s complexity.
In July 2022, Jean-Pierre and Patricia Simon purchased the estate, which had been family-owned for 30 years. They continue its tradition of organic, high-quality wine production, supported by the DERENONCOURT Cabinet and the SBO oenology lab.
We are excited to be welcoming owner and winemaker, Jean-Pierre Simon, for a beautiful three course meal made specifically to pair with his gorgeous right bank Bordeaux wines in a intimate setting at Josephine.
