Annual Rosé Tasting

Saturday, June 3, 3-5 pm, at Wine Republic

Featuring 25 wines: rosé, whites, summer reds plus light bites

Tickets: $25

Pewsey Vale Dry Riesling, 2021 Part of the Hill-Smith dynasty that includes Yalumba, this straw-hued Eden Valley Riesling is testament to winemaker Louisa Rose’s passion for the variety. In Eden's typical fruit-forward fashion, the nose is a restrained yet attractive combo of ripe peach, tangerine and waxy citrus fruit, with soft floral and herbal nuances. The palate is broad and mouthfilling but not creamy. Instead it's a precise balance of lifted acidity, chalky texture and concentrated fruit.

Wolffer Estate Long Island Summer in a Bottle Rosé, 2022 Bright shiny copper in color. The aroma is elegant with fine clean fruit notes of pears and apples but with a luxurious ripeness. The mouth-feel is vibrant and has lovely spiciness and a rich texture with fine tannins. It is livened up by nice acidity and a classic minerality and salinity. This dry rosé is very savory and has a long finish with creamy yeast and delicate chalk notes.

Celler de Capçanes, Mas Donis Rosat, 2021 A beautiful Garnatxa Tinto in miniature ... It's everything about the berry but lighter, fresher and zippier. Beautiful red fruits of the forest with an appley crunch, a dash of limestone and delicate fruit tannins buzzing in a herbal register. Mas Donis has a juicy and refreshing primary feel without sugar heft. It fits and sits in the middle of the palate, leaving a perfect amount of space. Cut with earthy acidity, the rosehip and maraschino palate is vibrant with neat lines.

Mirabeau X Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé, 2022 Blend of Syrah, Cinsault and Grenache. Intense on the nose with yellow peaches, nectarines, pear, melon and a hint of almond flowers. A round and delicious mouthfeel, with nice length and a great freshness. Delicate notes of frangipane, vineyard peach and citrus. An airy and mouthwatering rosé and a great example of this stunning Provence appellation.

Tabali Vetas Blancas Reserve Especial Pinot Noir, 2018 100% Pinot Noir. Deep, shiny, ruby red color. The nose displays complex, fresh aromas with outstanding fruity intensity, full of cherries, strawberries, and spices, all perfectly integrated with the French oak. In the mouth, this wine is fresh, delicate, and well-balanced with good acidity. The 2018 Tabali 'Vetas Blancas' Pinot Noir has seductive wine with an elegant and pronounced finish.

Pazo Torrado Rias Baixas Albarino, 2021 Varietally correct aromas of peach and melon form a good opening to this mostly fresh but fading Albariño. Flavors of melon, papaya and peach are typical for the grape, and the finish is holding on but showing signs of maturation.

Orchard Lane Rosé, 2021 This Wairau Valley, Marlborough, unique rosé is predominantly sauvignon blanc, which has been blended with just enough pinot noir to add a “delicious strawberries-and-cream character.” The wine features aromas of fresh raspberries accompanied by juicy, citrus notes. Intense “summer in a glass” flavors of sweet strawberries and watermelon are held together with a crisp, off-dry, mouthwatering finish.

Julia’s Dazzle Pinot Gris Rosé, 2021 Fresh and lively with bright aromas and flavors of orange blossoms, strawberries and ripe melon complemented by a racy acidity that lingers across a clean finish. “This wine dazzles with Marabelle plum, white peach, powdered sugar and citrus aromas, plus hints of white sage. Crisp acidity backs tangy pink grapefruit and pink lemonade flavors. The highlight is the herbal flavor reminiscent of lemon-basil granita with honey.” Wine Enthusiast. Columbia Valley, WA

Quinta da Calcada Vinho Verde Rosé, 2022 Aromas of strawberry, gooseberry, red prune, floral. This wine is a light salmon color and has a very slight effervescence that opens with a fruity aroma. It reveals a great freshness on the palate, with a vivid burst of minerals–a very pleasant and versatile wine. Vinho Verde, Portugal

Innocent Bystander Central Otago Pinot Noir, 2021 An intensely fruity but crowd-pleasing nose of red and black fruit backed by cedar, black pepper and violets opens. The palate sees more woodsy spice notes amidst the fruit. There's an almost surprisingly powerful spine of tannins and a lick of oak at the finish.

Domaine de Triennes Viognier Méditerranée IGP ‘Sainte Fleur’ 2020 Two of Burgundy’s greatest names – Jacques Seysses, founder of Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – are the partners behind this pioneering property in Provence, northeast of Marseille and due east of Aix-en-Provence. Over the years, they have transformed this stunning 46-hectare site into one of the top wine estates in Southern France. Intense perfume of apricot, honeysuckle, white flowers and lavender honey. This wine strikes a beautiful balance between aromatic richness, crisp acidity and mineral structure.

Domaine de Triennes Rosé, 2022 Blend of Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache and Merlot. The pale color, vibrant strawberry fruit and refreshing finish make this perfect for a sunny afternoon, but there is hidden depth here. Subtle spice notes and a juicy mid-palate make it ideal for spiced food; its cleansing acidity and stony texture pair beautifully with salads and cold cuts. It has the harmony and elegance that has earned world-wide appreciation of the rosés of Provence.

Domaine de la Solitude Cotes du Rhone Rosé, 2022 Blend of 50% Cinsault, 40% Grenache and 10% Syrah. They choose the coolest terroirs for this Rosé. The grapes are picked at night. They are destemmed and pressed straight after the harvest, and then aged on fine lees. A pretty pale with salmon-colored hints. A floral nose of rose petals and wild strawberries. A mouthful mingling with vivacity and roundness with aromatic notes of pink grapefruit and a good length.

Stolpman Vineyards Love You Bunches So Fresh Rosé Wine, 2022 White blossom, acacia, and rose petal on the nose. Citrus spray and lemon-lime lead a burst of high-toned red aromatics. In the mouth, a hint of Asian pear showcases the perfect continuum of ripeness over the alluring zing of mango and star fruit. Strawberry shortcake and peach on the front palate with a velvety, airy texture reminiscent of tasting angel food cake for the first time as a child. Balancing acid brings a linear, crisp closure already integrated with the soft floral and fruit notes.

Paitin Serra Boella Barbera d’Alba, 2021 “The 2021 Barbera dAlba Serra is an absolute delight. Pliant, silky and creamy, the 2021 offers terrific depth and tons of character. Vibrant red berry fruit, spice, mint and orange peel are some of the many notes that come together in this very pretty, articulate Barbera. I love the freshness and vibrancy here. What a beautiful wine this is.” December, 2022, Antonio Galloni

Mohua Sauvignon Blanc, 2022 From sustainably-grown grapes from the Marlborough wine region. Look for bright green apple, tropical fruit, mango, guava, lime zest and fresh melon flavors with food-friendly, mouth-watering acidity for seafood dishes. This winery is named for the endangered mohua bird of New Zealand's South Island.

La Vieille Ferme Rosé, 3L Box La Vieille Ferme Rose presents all of the elements of an attractive rose. This wine comes from the south end of the Rhone Valley from the Ventoux appellation. Made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault grapes. The color is a rich rose. Fresh and fruity the La Vieille Ferme Rosé represents all the attractive elements of the perfect Rose.

Studio by Miraval Rosé, 2022 Blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle and Tibouren. A very pale color, with features of fresh citrus fruits on the nose giving way to strawberry, green apple, lime, raspberry, and black currant notes that stay tightly focused through the long, rich finish. Nose of fresh fruit and citrus fruit. Fleshy palate with notes of citrus and white flowers and a long finish with salinity.

Bodegas Breca Rosé, 2022 This wine offers a beautiful aroma of ripe cherries and sweet spices. A beautiful and subtle rosé with cantaloup and peach aromas and flavors. Medium body with creamy texture with a crushed-stone and fruit aftertaste. Bodegas Breca Rose is an elegant rosé produced from the original clones worldwide of the Garnacha grape, characterized by delicate floral aromatics.

Fattori Col de la Bastia Valpolicella Superiore, 2020 Blend of 65% Corvina, 15% Corvinone + 10% Rondinella + 10% other varieties. Fattori purchased the 12ha Col de la Bastia property in Montecchia in 2009. There, limestone and yellow sandstone create the ideal place for Corvina. Made with fruit from vineyards more than 30 years old, this wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged in oak. The nose has redcurrants, blackberry coulis, bramble undertones, spice and raspberry jam. The palate has a great core of fruit and round tannins. Veneto, Italy

Hooch Booch Hard Kombucha Old Fashioned This flavor is a modern twist on one of the world’s first ever cocktails. With hints of orange peels and smoky oak, this drink is timeless in taste. Hooch Booch combines the mystique of classic cocktail flavors with the probiotic benefits of hard kombucha to create a beverage that is both refined and refreshing. You can expect a robust and flavorful booch that packs a punch of 8.5% ABV.

Maison Foucher Cremant de Loire Brut Rosé, NV 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Cabernet Franc. This frothy, extremely elegant sparkling wine from the Loire Valley in France is made using Methode Champenoise and is comprised of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Cabernet Franc. Dry on the palate, but perfectly ripe and ample in the mouth, displaying luscious peaches and cream, white nectarine, and fresh strawberry flavors set against a fine, velvety mousse. Loire Valley

Laballe Les Terres Basses, 2021 Blend of 30% Colombard, 40% Ugni Blanc and 30% Gros Manseng. A beautiful straw yellow color with nice green reflections. An intense and fresh nose with notes of English candy, pomelo and exotic fruits. In mouth the attack is lively and fresh with lemon aromas. The finish is fresh with a nice aromatic persistence. Côtes de Gascogne, France

Pomalo Wine Co. Slavonija Frankovka Dry Rose Wine, 2022 100% Frankovka (aka Blaufrankisch), hand-picked and destemmed and pressed with minimal skin contact. Natural cold settling for 48hrs. Racked off juice lees. Spontaneous fermentation, then racked with four months aging on fine lees. Lightly sulphured. Direct press Frankovka showing that Slavonia knows how to party in the summertime just as much as the coast! Delivers a nose bursting with floral aromas and red berry fruits, particularly strawberries and raspberries. The palate is fresh, vibrant, bright, and effortlessly pleasing. Slovenia

Rogue Vine ‘Grand Itata’ Tinto, ’2021  Made from 95% Cinsault and 5% Pais from dry-farmed, bush-trained vineyards that are over 60 years old. Itata valley is emerging as one of Chile's premier wine regions. Ideally located between the Andes and the Pacific coast. Rogue Vine's "Grand Itata" has an elegance from Cinsault, grown throughout the region, blended with País to brighten it up. Organically farmed on a vineyard planted in 1960, unfiltered, and using native yeast. Notes of singed wood and black tea fade into lush currants on the finish. The nose is lifted and shows bright red fruits of raspberry and strawberry with rose petals and hints of fresh forest floor. The palate is defined by its light tannin and acid structure that keeps the wine light.
