Please join us Friday, July 19th as L’Auberge Chez François presents a dinner featuring fine rosé wines from France, Spain and the US. While wine lovers have discovered that rosé doesn’t deserve the “cheap and sweet” reputation it got from Lancer’s, Mateus and white zinfandel, many consider it mostly as a light, refreshing glass to enjoy on a summer patio or at the beach. It may be hard to think of rosé as being “serious”, but there are definitely many wines with enough character to accompany a fine dinner. Our head sommelier, Alex Bardsley, will pour a variety of these, for a pre-dinner tasting as well as with the meal, commenting on their production methods, origins and styles. Though experimentation has delivered delicious new rosés, especially from the west coast, as demand has soared, we will be focusing on more classic styles in this case, but ones that deserve to be better known. Chef Jacques will craft a menu to bring out the best in the wines and demonstrate their dinner-worthiness. Afterwards, “white or red?” may no longer be an either/or question!
