How is it that the shortest month of the year so often feels like the longest? Well, that’s how it feels to our team, especially knowing that Doug and Anya are in France for the next two weeks (we suspect time will move at a more pleasing pace for them). So we’re going to make the short days and long nights of February pass as comfortably as possible by pouring a really exciting set of wines this weekend. Dom des Malandes Melon de Bourgogne Vin de France – How in the world did a classic, maturing, Muscadet end up in the cellar of a top Chablis estate? And what vintage did you way it was? You’ll like the wine even more than the story!
Dom Thibert Pouilly-Fuisse Heritage 2019 – All the quality, precision and mineral-laced drive of a top Chassagne or Puligny-Montrachet with a touch more Macon fruit and about half the cost. Wonderful stuff.
Patricia Green Pinot Noir Reserve 2021 – Year-in, year-out, the finest value in Willamette Valley Pinot Noir we know of. As always, pretty breathtaking.
Ch Pesquie Ventoux Quintessence 2019 – The three 92+ point reviews and 26% discount aren’t even the most interesting part of this robust Syrah/Grenache blend from the slopes of Mt. Ventoux.
