This week's tasting visits the Cotes du Rhone's Maison Brotte. We start with a lovely, everyday drinking white wine made mostly of Grenache Blanc. You will find aromas of exotic fruits, white flowers, and citrus fruits. Complex flavors of peach and apricot show through the fresh finish.
Our second wine is a Cotes du Rhone blend that has aromas of stone fruits, and delicately spicy hints of pepper, thyme, and garrigue. It is smooth, warming, and wonderfully elegant. Notes of wild red fruits, dark cherries, forest floor, and licorice are found in the flavor with soft tannins coming through.
Our third wine, from the town of Cairanne, is a delicious blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah. Beautiful and complex aromas of red berries, warm spices, and dry forest floor lead to the same flavors with hints of cinnamon and red peppercorns, ripe wild berries, and plums. The elegant tannins give way to a long toasted finish.
We finish our tasting with an amazing Chateauneuf du Pape from vineyards on the family's home estate! This wine is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, and the aromas you will experience are typical of its terroir with notes of spices, black pepper, lavender, black cherries, and blackberries. This velvety wine shows flavors of red fruits and incredible notes of garrigue. It is great now, and if you can resist it for a few years it is going to be even more amazing.
Join us from 2 to 5 pm for a fantastic tasting featuring wine from Maison Brotte.
