Students undertake a detailed study of the factors that contribute to the price of wine, the types of business engaged in the production of wine, available options for getting wine to the point of sale, and key considerations in wine marketing. After completion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate:
- understand how supply and demand, costs of production and sale, and factors associated with legislation & currency influence the price of wine
- evaluate the types of businesses engaged in wine production and the options available to those businesses for importing, distributing, retail, hospitality, DTC in a variety of market types
- analyze market forces, identify target consumers, and devise marketing strategies for each segment of the market
