This has been among my most popular tasting classes for years on end, always scheduled for the depths of winter, but it should be even better than usual in 2021 over Zoom, because we’ll be able to enjoy the 12 wines with well-matched foods in our various locations. In addition to selecting a dozen rich, broad-shouldered, flavor-packed reds from around the world, I’ll also share a range of food pairing ideas and recipes. Participants who are strapped for time can simply try some recommended cheeses that are exceptional partners for rich reds, whereas those with more time and ambition can steam up the windows by – for example – preparing stock and slow braising some lamb shanks to enjoy with white beans or coconut milk rice while we taste through the wines. The tasting lineup will include both classic winter wines as well as some remarkable upstarts from little-known grapes and locations, and will also be split between current releases and more mature wines that require aging to show at their best.
Wine samples available for pickup by appointment on Friday, February 5 between 12pm – 5pm.
