When you hear the phrase “wine country” you probably think of California. After all, with its Napa and Sonoma valleys, California ranks first in the United States in wine production. But did you know that Washington State ranks second? Washington is often overlooked as a major wine player for a couple of reasons.

Join us on Saturday to try- side by side-some of our favorites and cast your vote-it’s a Wine War!

J. Bookwalter “Readers” Chardonnay, Columbia Valley  $16.99

88 p Wine Enthusiast:

This wine contains 24% Viognier co-fermented in stainless steel with Chardonnay predominantly from Conner-Lee Vineyard. Its apricot, honeysuckle, pear and apple aromas are followed by lightly sweet fruit flavors that show lovely texture and length.

vs

Jax “Y3” Chardonnay, 2017,Napa Valley   $14.99

91 p Wine Enthusiast:

This is a concentrated and layered concrete-fermented white. Apple, pear and mango figure into the flavor profile, with a dusting of nutmeg and clove tones.

 J. Bookwalter “Notebook” Red Blend, NV,Columbia Valley  $11.99

Succulent smooth fruit begins, with flavors of bakers chocolate, black cherry, blackberry, toast, dried herbs, tobacco and cola finish. The combination of long-aged powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and fresh fruity young Syrah from Washington's ripest vintage fill this deliciously affordable wine.

vs

Sola Meritage, Paso Robles,$14.99

Deep in color with dusty red cherry, vanilla and wet forest floor aromatics. The aromas carry forward with prevailing flavors of blackberry and subtle spices. The finish is round and lush with a firm and even tannin structure. A deliciously balanced wine.

Treasure Hunter “Last Word” Cabernet Sauvignon, 2016,Columbia Valley  $19.99

A weighty wine that will dazzle your palate with blue and black fruit flavors, and seemingly insist that you take another sip.

vs

Acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, 2017,Rutherford  $24.99

Blackberry, black licorice and oak flavors envelop the palate with hints of warm mulling spices and chocolate. Complex and powerful, this wine has a long, luxurious finish.

Wines will be accompanied by a selection of cheeses, crackers, canapes, artisan breads &olive oil. The cost for one flight (a sample of each of the wines) will be $20.
