Winemaker Dinner At Osteria Trulli!

Join Vin Chicago for a lovely winemaker dinner at Osteria Trulli in Arlington Heights! We'll be enjoying a family-style, multi-course Italian meal from acclaimed Giovanni DeNigris, Chef/Owner, and recipient of Chicago Magazine's Top 15 Restaurants in 2016 accolade. It's going to be intimate, lively, delicious and fun. To pair with the food and the fun we'll also be indulging in the gorgeous wines of Shiopetto and Pietranera.
Schiopetto is an exciting producer of generous whites from Collio Goriziano in the northeast of Friuli, Italy — about 70 miles northeast of Venice/Treviso — but only a bit over a mile from the Slovenian border. These white wines are generous and intense, but precise. We plan to pour: Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon, Friulano and Pinot Grigio. We would guess that you've never had as massive a Pinot Grigio as this, so if you still have any preconceived notions against that grape — clean it away now. This is like if Alsace made Pinot Gris full dry. 15% ABV!
Pietranera of Montalcino will be presented by Olga Peluso Centaloni, representing her family's ownership of this estate since 1979. 45 hectares of vine cover their 200 total hectare land ownership, and they are devoted to Sangiovese. The organically-farmed vines see a strong southeastern exposure, and the winemaking is relatively traditional, using solely large format Slavonian casks for the 2016 Rosso di Montalcino and 2013 Brunello di Montalcino.
