Explore the French portfolio of Kermit Lynch, one of America’s most influential importers and author of the iconic wine memoir Adventures on the Wine Route. The tasting is absolutely free, but we ask that you RSVP so we have plenty of wine for everyone to try!
In 1972 with a $5,000 loan and 35 cases of stock, Kermit Lynch opened a wines tore in Berkley, California. Struggling to find the kinds of distinctively authentic wines he wanted to sell, Kermit began traveling across France to find them - and then, out of necessity, launched an import business to bring them to the USA.
Since then he's won two James Beard awards, was knighted by France, published a definitive memoir and manifesto for authentic wine, Adventures on the Wine Route, and kept on finding and importing a bevy of deliciously distinctive bottles. And we're going to open 15 of those bottles this Sunday so you can get to know Kermit's work and appreciate why this legendary importer remains one of America's most relevant and important nearly 50 years after he began.
We'll be joined by Kermit's Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager, David Bonin, and representatives from Robins Cellars, our partner and Kermit's Virginia distributor. While Kermit's portfolio has expanded at least a touch beyond, we're going to focus selections from France, where he got his start. In all, 15 wines will be open to try on three tables:
Estates Featured in Adventures on the Wine Route
Kermit Goes to Burgundy and Bordeaux
Roaming The Rest of France
We've negotiated some great special pricing for this very grand Kermit Lynch Portfolio Tasting, so you'll not only enjoy the wines here - all will be especially attractive to take home and drink and table and share with family and friends.
This tasting on Sunday, March 1, from 1-4pm is absolutely free, but we ask that you RSVP so we know how much wine to have on hand and how many nibbles to set out. You can RSVP online, email us, call us at 703.356.6500 or simply stop by the store.
