Join Greek Grape Wine Tours for a most memorable food and wine experience as we travel together to the most beautiful and fascinating wine regions throughout Greece. I passionately believe you cannot “do Greece” by going to Athens, hitting the beach, or taking a cruise that skirts the sea.

You need to experience the North, the Peloponnese, the Central, and the Islands to really know Greece. Each region has its own special wines, culinary customs, unique people and varied historiesGreek Grape Wine Tours will show you a Greece rarely seen by most tourists!

We will show you villages in the rugged north of Greece where the lush Xinomavro grape shines, the Nemea and Mantinia winegrowing regions on the Peloponnese, and the volcanic island of Crete and its plethora of diverse and delicious indigenous varietals.

Our small groups (6-10 people) will indulge in award-winning wines from small family-owned wineries while we listen to the winemakers’ histories and unique winemaking stories. Throughout the trip, we will pair these great wines with gastronomical delights that capture the essence of each region. In addition to our wining and dining, we will take in some of the most important archaeological sites of Greece, including the Acropolis, Ancient Nemea and Knossos. And don’t worry, there will still be time to explore on your own!  Here's what you can expect!

Day 1 – Welcome to Athens! Check-in and rest up for our welcome reception!

Day 2 – We will enjoy a private guided tour of the Acropolis and the must-see Acropolis Museum. After lunch in Plaka and a little siesta, we will re-group for our dinner.

Day 3 – Drive to Nafplio, the beautiful seaside town in the Peloponnese. On the way, we will make a stop at our first winery and sip some outstanding Savatiano, the prinicipal grape of Retsina. (Don’t be afraid!).

Day 4 – Before it gets too hot, you can climb the 999 stairs to the Palimidi Castle. Great views and great exercise!  After that, we will conquer the wineries of Nemea  where we will become experts in Agiorgitiko.

Day 5 – Today we will bask in the land of the white grape Moscofilero in the Mantinia region. A vineyard ride may even be in the cards!

Day 6 – Drive to Athens airport and fly to Thessaloniki, Greece’s 2nd largest city. We will continue to Nymfaio for the night. Nymfaio is considered one of the top 10 most picturesque villages in Europe and one of my personal faves.

Days 7/ 8 – Spend time in Naoussa and Amyndeon to explore the world of Xinomavro and Malagousia. On the way, we will visit Vergina to see the ancient Royal Tombs, including that of King Phillip II.

Day 9 – Drive to Thessaloniki airport and fly to Crete, the beautiful island in Homer’s ‘Wine Dark Sea. Sweeping sand beaches, volcanic vistas, succulent seafood, and award winning wines await!

Days 10/11 – We will spend our last two days in the beautiful Cretan wine country. From here we will visit our winery hosts as we learn more about the nearly extinct varietals for which Crete is famous. We will also become olive oil aficionados as we tour and taste at one of Crete’s oldest olive oil mills.

Day 12 – Fly to Athens for your flights home, unless you decide to extend your stay on Crete or join us on the 2 day Santorini add-on!
