What does it mean to call a wine ‘Old World’ or ’New World’? Apart from meaning a difference in geographical areas these terms also indicate a certain style and taste profile the consumer might expect from these wines. The flavors of a wine come not just from the grape but also winemaking practices and the effects of the land and climate. This class will highlight these differences between Old World and New World characteristics and explain why we can expect the flavors that we do. Guests will taste three grape varietals in six different wines. Nicole Ramos WSET Level 3, FWS, SWS, will led the class.
We will taste:
– Chardonnay from Burgundy
– Chardonnay from Long Island
– Malbec from Cahors
– Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina
– Tempranillo from Argentina
– Tempranillo from Rioja
