Join the Columbia Restaurant’s Fourth Generation “Caretaker’ and President Richard Gonzmart as he hosts renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs for an intimate five-course dinner featuring seven of his most-celebrated wines.
Called the “Steve Jobs of the wine industry” and regarded as an international visionary for his accomplishments, Hobbs combines his childhood roots on the family farm with an innovative scientific approach to refine the art of winemaking. Hobbs is highly regarded for his ability to identify exceptional vineyards, and for his pioneering spirit in working innovatively with new and historical sites.
Twice named “Wine Personality of the Year” by Robert Parker in The Wine Advocate, Hobbs earned his BS in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 1975, and MS in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California, Davis in 1978. Hired by Robert Mondavi Winery and then named to the inaugural team for Opus One, later joining Simi Winery, Hobbs launched his own winery in 1991.
Today, along with his global consulting career, Hobbs is the owner and winemaker for California-based wineries, Paul Hobbs Winery and CrossBarn, as well as his international partnerships, Viña Cobos (Mendoza, Argentina), Crocus (Cahors, France), Yacoubian-Hobbs (Armenia), with two new projects in development: Alvaredos-Hobbs (Galicia, Spain), and Hillick & Hobbs (Finger Lakes, New York).
This is Hobbs’ only scheduled appearance in Florida in 2020.
