Wine After Work: The wines of the "New California"
A brand new class with wine educator Shar Peterson!

The book "The New California Wine" by Jon Bonné is one of the most important wine books written in the last 20 years. In the book, Bonné outlines the changes that have happened in the California wine scene in the last ten years, with new and young winemakers returning to old-school techniques and old vineyards to make something special.

Many of today's hottest producers (Field Recordings, Rhys, Bedrock) along with a selection of great 'old guard' producers (Ridge, Mount Eden, Thackery) have embraced the key philosophies of the "New California": non-interventionist winemaking, respect for old vineyards, and balanced wines without excessive extraction or alcohols.

In this new class, Shar will cover the key aspects of this movement, and present to you a list of the "New California" producers available in Minnesota to seek out. Three outstanding selections of wines will accompany the discussion.

The class includes extensive handouts, maps, conversation, and some bites from The Vine Room's kitchen.

We hope you can join us for this new Wine After Work class!

What is Wine After Work?
Wine After Work is a series of fun and quick wine classes at local restaurants all over the metro area. Conducted by Certified Sommelier Shar Peterson of Twin Cities Wine Education, they are a quick dive into a specific topic in the world of wine while tasting a handful of delicious selections.

What time are Wine After Work classes?
As implied by the name, we aim to have these be fun after-work events. The gathering starts anytime after 5:15 pm, class begins around 5:30 pm, and ends around 6:30 pm.

Is there food at Wine After Work?
A couple of appetizers or a cheese board will be ordered for the table, but this is not a wine dinner. You’re invited and encouraged to stick around after at the host restaurant for dinner.

Is there wine served at Wine After Work classes?
Of course! We take pride in serving great wines for all of our classes, always with top quality Riedel stemware. All Wine After Work classes serve a minimum of three great selections.
