So we were reminiscing about all the winemaker dinners and tours we had the privilege of hosting in 2019, and getting melancholy thinking about some of the great wines we'd been able to pour when we thought, "How cool would it be to pair our five top selling red wines of the year with their own special menu?"

So we went through a whole year's worth of sales recaps, ranked all the reds according to how you voted for them with your pocketbook, and picked the five top. We then designed an awesome menu that pairs two tasting courses with each of the five wines. If you enjoy great food paired with great wines, this is definitely one dinner you'll not want to miss.

Cost is a mere sixty-nine fifty for the entire 10-course tasting menu and generous half-glass pours of all five wines (which equals over half a bottle per person). Hope you can join us. Here's the line-up. Wine notes and bottle prices are at the end of this announcement if you're interested.

NOTE: Due to the complexity of this menu we regret that we will be unable to accommodate any menu modification requests whatsoever.

You can also park in the lot behind Shakespeare Pub two doors down, but do not park in El Indio's lot unless you want your car towed! WINE NOTES & BOTTLE PRICES
2016 Margerum "M5" Red Blend ~ $23
(Santa Barbara County) Winemaker's Notes: 44% Grenache, 36% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre, 5% Counoise + 3% Cinsaut. Opaque with dense crimson and ruby red hues. Aromas of red fruits, dried cranberries and jammy youthful fruits come immediately to the fore, with perfumed Grenache and rose petal floral aromas. A solid core of dark red fruit and spicy fruit surrounded by youthful tannins. The overlying presence of Grenache flavors initially impacts the palate, followed by a finish complete with hints of jam, cocoa and dark berry contributions of Syrah and earthy Mourvèdre. 93 Points, Vinous.

2016 Bokisch Monastrell ~ $20
(Lodi) Winemaker's Notes: This is the first vintage of Monastrell from the Sheldon Hills Vineyard and the change is noteworthy! The terroir is Redding Gravelly Clay Loam and the Sloughhouse AVA gets warmer evenings which create a bigger, bolder Monastrell. This wine is super dark and full of earthy aromas, oiled leather and white pepper. It has gripping tannins with a full bodied texture ending with a bright acidity. Flavors of ripe fresh blackberry, Santa Rosa plum, and chocolate covered coffee beans end with hints of licorice. Pair with espresso rubbed filet mignon and wild mushroom sauce.

2017 Cass Mouvèdre ~ $28
(Paso Robles) Winemaker's Notes: Savory spices emanate from the glass releasing aromas of baked blueberry, grilled plum, sweet paprika and star anise. A buoyant acidity rides alongside polished tannin, seamlessly complimenting rich elements of stewed blackberry, cherry cola reduction, warm mocha and English toffee. Tiers of pink peppercorn, cracked caraway seed and roasted vanilla bean persist.

2017 Stolpman "La Cuadrilla" Red Blend ~ $18
(Ballard Canyon) Winemaker's Notes: 55% Syrah, 27% Sangiovese + 18% Grenache. Dark and intense, this wine shows delicious suppleness through the palate.

2016 Melville "Estate" Syrah ~ $ 28
(Sta. Rita Hills) Winemaker's Notes: Inky garnet in color. brilliant aromatics of ripe blue fruits, allspice and white pepper emanate from the glass. In the background, floral notes of lavender and violets intermingle with deeper components of prosciutto, buttered mushrooms and soy. The palate impression is tender and polished with a firm presence finishing with significant weight and focus. 96 Points, Wine Enthusiast.
