This month, La Joie du Vin celebrates the holiday season with more than just wine. We invite you to join us on Saturday, December 7th at 3 p.m. for a holiday cocktail and appetizer demonstration that you can participate in. Come find out how to make your own holiday celebrations cheery, bright, and much more festive. More importantly, you can throw a holiday party where you can actually enjoy your guests.

We start off the afternoon with Emeril Lagasse's deliciously famous cocktail, "Red Rooster," an easy and tasty adult slushy of vodka, cranberry juice and orange juice. This cocktail is great to make well ahead of time and store in the freezer for party day, or to just have on hand for drop-in guests. I've paired the Red Rooster with Gumbo Nachos--andouille sausage, shrimp
and the Holy Trinity presented on crispy tortilla chips in all their cheesy and decadent Creole glory.

Our next course is a twist on one of my favorite cocktails. I've been a fan of French 75s since I can't remember when. This holiday version starts with rosemary-infused vodka mixed with cranberry juice and freshly squeezed lemon juice. You can easily put together this base mixture ahead of time and chill until serving time. Then when you're ready to serve, pour a little of the mixture in a champagne flute and top it off with sparkling wine and garnish very prettily with fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig. The Cranberry Rosemary French 75 is dry, refreshing, and pairs perfectly with elegant croissant sandwiches filled with smoked turkey breast, Swiss cheese, arugula and a cranberry-rosemary mayo--an easy- to-put-together-at-the-last-minute-appetizer, or even hours ahead of the party.

White Christmas Margaritas?? Yes, please!! You'll build this gorgeous cocktail in a punch bowl from tequila, orange liqueur, coconut rum, coconut milk and other fresh ingredients. It's an easy and stunning presentation that your guests will love. And it pairs so well with the perfect prep-ahead party appetizer: a zippy ceviche done with whitefish, green olives, serrano peppers, onion, avocado, and tomato in a coconut milk and coconut vinegar marinade. Served with crisp plantain chips, this cocktail and appetizer combo is a winner.

Next, we'll learn how to make a delicious non-alcoholic sangria and also Classic Eggnog--so much better than the store-bought version. Both of these no-alcohol libations are impressive, utterly delicious and also pair beautifully with warm miniature Monte Cristo sandwiches. Served with warm currant jelly for dipping and sprinkled with confectioner's sugar
(as is the tradition), these little fried sandwiches will steal your heart--and the appetizer show.

To end our afternoon, learn how to make a fabulous Mulled Red Wine with Brandy and Oranges--in your crockpot. Spicy, complex, and deceptively alcoholic, this version of mulled wine will become your new winter classic for parties and gatherings. And for dessert, enjoy a decadent and fudgy flourless chocolate cake adorned with toasted hazelnuts, which pairs well with the mulled red wine. Coffee and hot tea will also be offered.

This holiday cocktail and appetizer tasting promises to be a fun afternoon. Make, share, sip and nibble your way through the tasting and take home recipes too. Seating is limited, so be sure to RSVP soon--you don't want to miss this. You can purchase tickets via Eventbrite for $40 per person, or you can respond to this email or even call us at 512-55 EAT 44 to
make arrangements to pay in advance.
