Tuesday, June 16

Today, we’ll head south-west to Bairrada, an exciting region producing fabulous still and sparkling wines

  • Our day starts with a 1.5 drive to the Bairrada for a private visit, wine tasting and lunch with one of our favourite producers, Filipa Pato. Filipa’s philosophy is simple: create authentic wines without makeup that express the true nature of the vineyards from which they come. She focuses on indigenous grapes only - Baga, Bical, Arinto, Cerceal and Maria Gomes - to create soulful wines from her biodynamic vineyards.

  • Enjoy lunch at the property.

  • After lunch we will go to Filipa’s father’s winery! Luís Pato is a pioneer who single handedly turned around the reputation of Bairrada with his exceptional wines from the indigenous Baga grape. Since the eighteenth century. the Pato family has been producing wine at their Quinta do Ribeirinho estate, but it wasn't until 1980 when Luis produced his first wine, a 100% Baga from an exceptional year, that the Pato name became well known.

  • Return to Porto.

  • Free evening.

Wednesday, June 17

Their cult-wines, Vinha da Ponte and Vinha Marie-Teresa, are among the most highly rated and sought-after wines from Portugal. Premium tasting and lunch in the winery included.

This innovative, yet rustic winery was founded by Jorge Serôdio Borges and his wife Sandra Tavares da Silva, two of the most celebrated winemakers in Portugal. Initially, the winery included a lone vineyard, Pintas, but through the years it has gradually expanded to include additional properties, such as the magnificent Quinta da Manoella, located in the Pinhão Valley. Lunch will be served at the Quinta.
