The Sea in Palo Alto to Host Maker’s Mark Paired Dinner with Special Guest Rob Samuels

The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse in Palo Alto will host a “Behind the Wood Finishing of Maker’s Mark” whisky paired dinner by Chef Yumin Lin on Saturday, October 5 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Priced at $150.00 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, this special event will afford customers the opportunity to enjoy an evening of high-end dining and drinking and meet Rob Samuels, grandson of Maker’s Mark founders Bill and Margie Samuels, who will highlight a history of innovations with Wood Finishing, Maker’s Mark 46, and the science of wood and the flavors that it can impart. Pairings will include Private Select offerings and those attending will be the first to try RC6, a limited release in the Wood Finishing series. Tickets, which are required, can be obtained via https://www.exploretock.com/theseausa/event/74095/behind-wood-finishing-of-makers-mark-with-rob-samuels.

Chef Lin, 44 years old, grew up in Taiwan and trained in Japan. At The Sea, he has become known for his fine dining seafood-focused menu prepared with premium quality ingredients and techniques that distinguished his previous work at the Michelin two-star restaurant Providence located in Los Angeles. In 2008, together with Chef Michael Cimarusti, Lin defeated the most famous Iron Chef, Masaharu Morimoto, in “Battle Black Fish” on the Food Network’s Iron Chef America program.

Every day The Sea bar offers a substantial selection of contemporary, classic and original cocktails. The international wine list includes more than 300 vintages, with about 17 available by the glass. The bar and lounge open at 5:00 p.m. and in the recently debuted "The Cove at The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse" there are currently new seasonal cocktails curated by Bar Director Lucas England and approachable, intriguing bar bites from Chef Lin.

Highlights of the upscale, contemporary design of the 148-seat dining room include a color scheme of white, light blues and grays, plus mirror accents, and a white Caesarstone bar top with white leather barstools. An outdoor patio has room for 50. The Sea also has substantial private dining options with a half dozen venues of various sizes and a full conference center that can accommodate up to 200 guests.

The Sea by Alexander’s Steakhouse is located at 4269 El Camino Real in the historic Dinah's Garden Hotel, between Deodar Street and Dinah's Court, in Palo Alto, California. The restaurant is open for dinner nightly, Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday and Monday from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Valet parking is available Monday through Saturday plus private off-street spots are an option. About Alexander’s Steakhouse

The Alexander’s Steakhouse Restaurant Group owns five distinctly unique restaurants in prime Bay Area locations, one steakhouse in Southern California and two European patisseries in Silicon Valley.

The flagship, award-winning Alexander’s Steakhouse Silicon Valley in Cupertino, CA launched in 2005. Alexander’s Steakhouse San Francisco brought the delicious twist-on-the-classic American-steakhouse concept to the SOMA neighborhood in 2010, and The Sea by Alexander’s Steakhouse opened in 2012 in Palo Alto, CA with a focus on sustainable seafood. Traveling south, Alexander's Steakhouse Pasadena opened in 2015 to rave reviews. The newest additions to the Alexander's family include ALX by Alexander's Steakhouse (2018) in the SOMA area of SF, featuring a more casual dining concept boasting a broad selection of American Wagyu beef and locally sourced produce and One65 (2019) a multi-level restaurant complex located in the heart of Union Square. One65 includes a patisserie, bistro, bar, fine-dining and private dining experiences. Alexander’s Patisserie operates a stand-alone shop in downtown Mountain View, CA and one in Cupertino, CA adjacent to the steakhouse.

Each location is captained by its own Executive Chef, all of whom create original menus with high-end, rare ingredients designed to take guests on an extreme food adventure—a meal of distinction with exclusive tastes and original presentations.
