- Valuable to any individual interested in learning about wines.
Requirements:
- No previous study requirements, no wine knowledge is assumed. WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is NOT a prerequisite to taking WSET Level 2 Award in Wines.
- At least 21 years of age.
You'll learn:
- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine (SAT)
- How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah/Shiraz
- The style and quality of wines: made from 22 regionally important grape varieties and produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
- How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of: Sparkling wines and Fortified wines
- Key labeling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
- Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
- Principles of food and wine pairing
You'll achieve:
- Successful candidates receive the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines certificate and lapel pin.
Classroom
Learn from instructors with industry experience. Class instruction includes guided tastings, interactive sessions and exercises designed to bring complete understanding of the learning objectives.
Class includes:
- Minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time
- 16 hours of classroom instruction
- 11 hours of personal study and revision
- 1 hour examination
- WSET Level 2 Wine Study Kit
- Guided tastings of over 45 wines
- WSET Level 2 Wine exam - closed book, 50 multiple choice questions
