The immensely popular wines of the Rhône Valley represent more than 30 appellations and 21 grape varieties and is divided into two regions: Northern Rhône, where Syrah is foremost, and Southern Rhône, where Grenache plays the lead in various blends. Our interest is with the South which dominates production in the Rhône Valley and where values proliferate. A myriad of styles and grape blends exist from the mighty Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the more modest Côtes du Ventoux. Plum’s Rod Johnson will be on hand to present many of his favorites from Châteauneuf, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Tavel, Lirac, and a smattering of Villages Rhône as well as Rhône’s workhorse, Côtes du Rhône. There will be an array of Southern Rhône wines — red, white and rosé — guaranteed to tickle you fancy and please your pocket book.
