It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting, and the spotlight will be on Grenache this week. Join us to sample 5 different versions of this versatile grape.

Grenache is one of the most important grapes on the planet. And it produces some of the world’s most delicious red wines. From the hearty and herbal reds of Southern France to the more opulent, fruit-forward versions from Spain, this is a grape that gets around. Join us as we pour you a deliciously diverse lineup of wines based on this prolific grape. Taste, learn, and save every Saturday at Table Wine.

Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!

Don’t forget, all the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day.

1. 2017 Domaine Lafage Cuvee Centenaire (Roussillon, France) – Grenache doesn’t just come in one color! Nope, Jean-Marc Lafage blends 100+ year old Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris with a little bit of Roussanne to create this delicious white wine. From organically tended vineyards just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean, this one is rich, yet fresh and balanced with good fruit complimented by complex mineral and spice notes.

2. 2018 Gerberas Garnacha (Aragon, Spain) – Experts agree that Grenache/Garnacha most likely originated in Aragaon, in Northern Spain. Here’s a great introduction to the regional style. Fermented in stainless steel, this is ripe, juicy, generous and easy to drink. Look for notes of kirsch, plum, white pepper, and cinnamon.

3. 2018 Domaine de Chantepierre Cotes du Rhone (Rhone Valley, France) – Here’s one of the classic red wines of Southern France in fine form. Primarily Grenache, this one is “sprinkled with” a bit of Syrah and Mourvedre to create the quintessential bistro red. Showing a bit more structure and herbal nuance than #2, it is still quite easy to drink.

4. 2016 Argiolas Cannonau di Sardegna ‘Costera’ (Sardinia, Italy) – Grenache goes by the name Cannonau on the Italian isle of Sardinia. Here, the grape yields a more structured and “serious” wine with more dark fruit and more pungent herbal notes. The warmth and intense sunlight of southern Sardinia can be seen and felt in the wine with unexpectedly deep color and fullness on the palate.

5. Surprise Wine – We’ll end with a special treat and we’ll only open 1 bottle of this one. Get here early!
