‘Vendanges du Coeur’
At the end of September a harvest festival takes place at Chateau des Tourtes in St. Caprais de Blaye (a neighboring village of Domaine la Fontaine): picking, pressing and tasting, followed by a joint meal in a large tent.
In the morning at the crack of the day we join Chateau des Tourtes at Saint-Caprais-de-Blaye. Everyone is provided with a ‘sécateur’ (pruning shears) and a bucket and we go to the adjacent vineyards. At the end of the row is the trailer, which in two hours time is fully loaded with freshly picked grapes.
Then a tour at the chateau is given, with explanations and workshops. Time also for the ‘foulage’ (the pressing of the grapes bare feeted), live music and the apéro. Meanwhile, the table is set in a large tent for a Burgundian meal.
