Join Uncorked Vintage Academia at The Austin Winery for a session of Blind Wine Tasting!

Whether you are preparing yourself for a Sommelier Examination, or you want to become a better taster, grow and fine tune your palate for personal enjoyment and fun - this workshop is open to ANYONE and EVERYONE [21+], even if you have little or no experience in blind tasting - as our team will explain the process.

The objective for each tasting is to determine 5 components using technical, comparative and deductive evaluation.
This is a double blind tasting to determine:

-Country
-Region
-Varietal
-Vintage [+/- 2yrs.]
-Production Technique

This will be a great opportunity to taste several wines from benchmark world class growing areas and styles, network with other wine enthusiasts and expand your palate by learning on this professionally guided workshop.

There is a minimum of 9 wines, they will be decanted to conceal branding, markings, closures or bottle shapes and served at correct evaluation temperature in INAO International Standards Organization Tasting Glassware.

We are limited to 20 guests so don't wait to RSVP!

{FAQ's about Blinds}
Q:What's a "Double" blind tasting?
A: It's a tasting where most elements (with the exception of visual clues) of the identity of the beverage are hidden from the taster, there are no clues as to the region or variety for example. In a "single" blind tasting (also known plainly as a "blind tasting") there may be an element known to the taster, for example: a Merlot tasting, where the taster must deduce the Country and Region of origin.
Q: Is Double Blind tasting challenging?
A: It's not as challenging as a Triple Blind tasting! But, it may put some tasters outside their comfort zone, however, by practicing deductive evaluation one becomes a more aware taster.
Q: What's a Triple Blind tasting?!?!
A: Unlike Blind tastings where one or more of the elements of the wine are known, or a Double Blind tasting where the color of the wines poured are observed, a Triple Blind tasting is performed by using opaque black tasting glasses, so the full identity of the beverage is concealed, and the taster must deduce their conclusion only from an "in-mouth" evaluation.

Be sure to let us know if you have any questions! Send us a message.
