It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting, and we’re breaking out some energetic and refreshing white wines to help you beat the summer heat.

Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!

White Wine Lovers Unite! Join us as we delight your palate with five different and delicious white wines ideal for the summer season. And we’re not pouring the usual suspects — we’re going to focus on lesser known grapes and regions. Plus, they’re all going to come from smaller, family owned and operated wineries. In case you forgot, we specialize in estate grown, family farmed, cleanly farmed, and honestly made wines. Sound good? All you have to do is stop by, taste, learn, and save!

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. 2017 Cantina Frentana Cococciola (Abruzzo, Italy) – Cococcioa is the grape and it’s a specialty of the Abruzzo region. It almost went extinct, but a passionate farmer saved it from that fate. We’re glad he did! Because this is beautifully aromatic, crisp, and herbaceous. It’s the perfect white wine to sip by the pool or to enjoy with salads, grilled vegetables, and fish.

2. 2018 Les Vignerons de Florensac Picpoul de Pinet (Languedoc, France) – Famed wine critic described the Picpoul grape as “the Muscadet of Southern France.” And that’s a very apt description. Bone dry and possessing lively acidity, this one exhibits tense notes of lemon, lime, green apple, and salty mineral. Perfect for shellfish!

3. 2018 Tasca d’Almerita Regaleali Bianco (Sicily, Italy) – This one is brand new to the store, and it’s composed of some of the lesser known grapes of Sicily. Ever heard of Inzolia, Grecanico or Catarratto? Don’t worry if you haven’t as this one is just straight up yummy. Sure, it’s a bit richer and fuller bodied than the first two, but it’s still crisp and crunchy. Look for notes of green apple, grapefruit and pear.

4. 2018 Cederberg Bukettraube (Western Cape, South Africa) – Every tried or even heard of the Bukettraube grape? It’s believed to have originated in Germany or Alsace, but almost all of the current plantations are located in South Africa. Explosively aromatic, it reminds us of Muscat or Gewurztraminer, and this one is bottled with some residual sugar. Exotic, fun to smell, and even better to drink (especially with spicy fare), it’s fun and fantastic.

5. Surprise Wine – We’ll end with another crazy white made from a very rare grape. Very little makes it to North Carolina, we bought it all, and we’re sharing it with you. Due to the limited availability, we’ll only open one bottle. Come early!
