Please join us in welcoming Michele Chiarlo Brand Ambassador Adam Verona for a special tasting of some of the most iconic wines of the Piedmont region. Since 1956, Michele Chiarlo has been vinifying the essence of Piedmont, loving and developing the most incredible wine region in the world. One of the leading wineries in the region, Michele Chiarlo exclusively produces wine from Piedmont’s native grape varieties (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cortese and Moscato), cultivating them in some of the most iconic crus from four historical, traditional Piedmontese production areas (Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti and Gavi). Michele Chiarlo is 100% family owned and run, and they have some of the top historical single vineyards in Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera. In fact, two of their vineyards, Cerequio and La Court, are recognized as UNESCO world heritage sites. Attendees will sample wines from these remarkable sites, including a 2010 Riserva Barolo!

Wines from all four Piedmontese areas where Michele Chiarlo produces wines (Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti and Gavi) will be poured:
2017 Michele Chiarlo Gavi ($20)
2016 Michele Chiarlo Cipressi Nizza Barbera d’Asti ($20)

ABOUT MICHELE CHIARLO
The Chiarlo style of wines are elegant and complex with a propensity to excellent longevity while featuring all the characteristics of the well-cultivated vineyards and high-quality soil from which they are made. In the cellar, the winemakers pursue the goal of being faithful to the Chiarlo style: a moderate and careful use of wood for their red wines so that the variety and the soil characteristics remain evident.

Since the end of the 1980s Michele Chiarlo raise its quality thanks to the reduction in the yields in the vineyard, bringing forth an excellently structured and harmonious wine with very evident notes of red fruit, accompanied by an attractive silkiness and freshness. This long and arduous work enabled Michele Chiarlo to be the producers that first introduced quality Barbera d’Asti into fifty-odd new markets.

Michele Chiarlo also worked tenaciously together with other prestigious producers to raise the level of the noble Barolo, making it less austere and with smoother tannins, but always maintaining intact its original characteristics and extraordinary longevity. The determining factor in the vineyard was the drastic reduction in the grape bunches, while in the cellar the fundamental thing was controlling the temperature of fermentation and reducing the musts contact with the skins to 15-17 days. The result are Barolo wines of extraordinary quality and depth.
