The Cameron Chamber of Commerce is excited to partner with 44 Farms to kick off a great day of Steak, Stein & Wine Festival events on October 12, 2019 in downtown Cameron. Rick Trevino will close the festival with a concert/dance at the Milam County Junior Livestock Youth Expo! To set your feet a-tapping, Gordon Collier Band from Waco will open the show. The concert/dance will take place right after dinner with wine, beer and VIP seating available for purchase.
A delicious Ribeye steak dinner with all the trimmings--courtesy of our own local beef producer, 44 Farms--will be served on Saturday evening with 44 Farms beef featured. This will be a true farm-to-table event, with seating either indoors or under the Watson Legal, PC lit tent outside. The trimmings for the dinner will be prepared by Hot Corner and Dutchtowne Deli. Steaks will be prepared by Johnny's Steakhouse. Tickets for the dinner are now on sale!
A 5K Adult and 1K Youth Steak, Stein & Wine Run will kick off the Festivities at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded in several divisions. At the event's end, you can grab an ice-cold root beer and a steak taco!
At 10:00 a.m., downtown will burst open with a variety of artists displaying their works of art, pottery, leather, woodcrafts and more. Crafters and Farmer's Market vendors, including Manley Christopher, will set up booths along the streets with their artisan products, crafts, and fresh produce. Randy McBay of Premiere Studios will be displaying a variety of antique items for shoppers who love all things vintage.
Local wineries, En Gedi Vineyards, Kissing Tree Vineyards, and Axis Winery will be selling their vintages. Be sure to check out the sports bar equipped with TVs streaming big games of the day! Jay Tinney of Tinney Barbecue will be preparing steak flights for the foodies among us who want to savor various cuts of steak.
During the morning kick-off at Bea’s Kitchen, Agri-Life will host a Food Demonstration preparing mouth-watering Steaks and Sauces. Micah Holcombe will have your taste buds dancing and ready for the evening’s steak dinner!
Aggieland Safari will be onsite with a petting zoo the whole family can enjoy.
Game Zones for young and old alike will feature many different games and activities available throughout the day. We’ll have a Play Street for the younger kids and Giant Jenga, KUBE, and more for teens or the young at heart.
Cameron’s and Milam County’s rich heritage will be showcased in our three museum locations. At the Milam County Museum, Chris Talbort will exhibit his photos of the El Camino Real de los Tejas. There will also be a Quilt Show with over 200 quilts on display. Stop by the Old Town Cameron Railroad Museum to meet some of the Certified Junior Engineers and check out their newly-renovated displays and additions. You can even drive the model trains through a detailed re-creation of Cameron as it existed in the 1940’s. While you’re there, be sure to ask about how to become a junior engineer yourself! There will also be ice cream available, should your sweet tooth need satisfying.
Music will be performed throughout the day with an open mic session beginning around 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Local artists also performing include Red Watterson is A Good Excuse, Casey Stanislaw, Charlie Wyler, Nestor Rios & friends and many more!
