Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a winemaker is like? Or what it would feel like to be swept up in the exhilarating energy of harvest? If you’ve visited Sonoma Valley in those critical weeks while the harvest season is in full swing, you know that the air is alive with the electric pulse of a myriad hands picking grapes, crush-pads wet with the sticky juice of newly pressed varieties, and the scent of new barrels and pomace permeating the air.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience harvest like this or spend a day in the life of a winemaker, we are offering this unique opportunity to do just that - join us for our 3rd annual Harvest Experience on Saturday, September 22nd, 2019 from 11am to 3pm.

The Harvest Experience is a 2-part event that will take you deep into what harvest truly entails. Check in at Muscardini Cellars to begin your day and meet your guides: Winemaker Michael Muscardini and Wine Club Director, Karen Hannah.

Part 1 - Deerfield Ranch Winery, Kenwood
We'll start our harvest journey with a stop at our winemaking custom crush facility at Deerfield Ranch Winery. Michael will tour guests through the crush pad to see all the interworkings of crushing grapes once they arrive at the facility from the vineyard. Visiting the wine cave where our wine sits in barrels will give you some perspective on the different types of oak we use to age our wines. Karen will taste you on a very special wine or two to help you learn more about the important aging process of wine.

Part 2 - Alpicella Vineyards, Sonoma Valley ~ Vineyard Tour, Winemaker's Lunch & Vertical Tasting
One of the prized vineyards that Michael Muscardini has made Brunello-style Sangiovese from for many vintages, Alpicella Vineyards, is located within the premier AVA of Sonoma Valley. Meet vineyard owner and grape grower, Dan Sanchez, who will share insights about the harvest process in the vineyard and educate us on the beginning of the winemaking process. Here you will sample grapes straight from the vine to see where the magic of harvest begins while enjoying conversations around grape growing and the critical things that go on in the vineyard during harvest.

After learning about wine from the vine to the bottle, the event will conclude with a vertical library tasting and catered lunch in the vineyards from a Sonoma food purveryor favorite. Enjoy being guided through unique library vintages of Sangiovese from Alpicella by Michael Muscardini himself and discover what makes each vintage so special while relaxing in the place where the very fruit came from.

Tickets are $105 per wine club member and $125 for general public.
Tickets include transportation, tastings, and lunch.
