Come and taste the outstanding Domaine Clos de la Chapelle Burgundy wines with Mark O'Connell, one of the very few Americans to own vineyards in the region.
Domaine Clos de la Chapelle has a long history that stretches back to 1865 when it was formerly known as Domaine Louis Boillot. Approximately, ten-years-ago Mark O'Connell, an American and Burgundy-lover, purchased the property with his business partners Pierre Meurgey and Philippe Remoissent of Maison Champy at the time, and re-named it. Mark's initial purchased parcels included two holdings in Volnay, most notable the monopole 'Clos de la Chapelle' and one parcel in Pommard. With the acquisition of nine additional parcels, the domaine now totals four-hectares with 11 different plots and an average annual production of 1500 cases. Under the leadership of vineyard manager Frédéric Gaillard and technical director Coralie Allexant-Maniere, formerly of Méo-Camuzet, they practice organic viticulture with biodynamic techniques with the goal of producing the best expression of terroir from each of the small parcels.
We will be tasting the Premier Cru wines: "Les Reversees" Blanc, Beaune "Teurons", Pommard "Chanlins", Volnay "Clos de la Chapelle" and Volnay "En Carelle".
