Join us for our free Tempranillo Takeover Wine Tasting this Friday! Taste a trio of Spanish Tempranill0-based wines and learn more about the grape, the variety of regions where it’s grown, and the producers who grow it.

Tempranillo is Spain’s most famous and well known grape variety and it is responsible for many of the country’s greatest wines.  Grown in many of Spain’s most famous viticultural zones, the style of wine it produces can vary tremendously depending upon a number of factors including climate, clonal selection, and producer philosophy and methodology.  Join us for a free wine tasting where you’ll get to sample some different styles of Tempranillo from a variety of regions.  Stop by, taste, learn, and save up to 20% off on all of the tasting wines.

Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking.

And don’t forget, all the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only!

1.2018 Ostatu Rosado (Rioja, Spain) – The new batch of dry roses are flowing into the store, and this is always a staff and customer favorite. Mainly Tempranillo with some Garnacha and Viura, fruit comes from the estate’s oldest, highest altitude, organically farmed vineyards. Tart and invigorating, it offers up crisp aromas and flavors of lime, kiwi, white cherry and green strawberry.

2. 2017 Venta Morales Tempranillo (La Mancha, Spain) – Always a candidate for Spain’s top red wine value, Venta Morales is 100% Tempranillo from 30-40 year old vines fermented in tank. “It’s a big fruit bomb that offers impressive amounts of blueberries, violets, scorched earth, and graphite in a plump, powerful, medium to full-bodied style that sells for a song.” – Jeb Dunnuck – 89 points

3. 2012 Vina Bujanda Rioja Reserva (Rioja, Spain) – Rioja is home to some of Spain’s top Tempranillo-based wines, and I think this one over-delivers in a big way. 100% Tempranillo from the estate’s oldest vines (40-60 years old to be exact), it is aged 20 months in French and American oak and another year in bottle before release. Offering up classic, traditional, and savory notes of exotic spices, leather, and dark fruit, this is Rioja done right.
