The Modernism Museum Mount Dora presents our next Dine & Learn: Dining on the Balcony of Europe: Exploring Georgian Cuisine featuring Dr. Michael Denner on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 at 12:30 PM (luncheon) and 6:30 PM (dinner). The event will take place at the Modernism Museum’s award-winning restaurant, 1921 Mount Dora. The cost is $35 for a three-course, prix-fixe menu. A variety of Georgian beers and wines will be available for purchase.

Join the Modernism Museum and Dr. Denner as we explore the rich and layered culinary history of the country of Georgia. Its location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe has brought travelers, merchants, missionaries and conquerors of all kinds and creeds. Georgia’s cultural heritage spans thousands of years, and the many foreign influences have resulted in a food culture that is distinct from any European or Asian cuisine.

Dr. Michael Denner is the director of Stetson University’s program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, director of Stetson’s Honors Program, and editor of The Tolstoy Studies Journal. Dr. Denner has published extensively on pan-Slavic politics, history and art, and he has recently published a Russian-language cookbook which is devoted to traditional Georgian vegetarian/ vegan recipes. A variety of Georgian beers and wines will be available for purchase.

Please call the Modernism Museum at (352) 385-0034 to reserve your spot. Limited seating is available.
