Stretching 250 miles along the Pacific Coast, from San Francisco to Santa Barbara Counties, and only 25 miles wide, California’s Central Coast offers delightful diversity in microclimates and soils. With a sunny Mediterranean climate and cooling diurnal fog, the grapes are able to retain a wonderful sun-kissed quality, balanced by freshness and acidity. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah but are a few of the region’s chief grape varietals, and winemakers are experimenting with less well-known varietals, as well. To welcome in the sunshine of Spring, we’ll be pouring from both classic and newer producers.
