Location, Location, Location... Sommelier Stephen Deyton is back this time teaching a class on California wines!
Did you know that Sonoma and Napa are separated by the Mayacamas Mountains? Sonoma is most known for it's very cool climate because of its proximity to the ocean. Sonoma is also know for lighter wines that have higher acidity and elegance. Napa is known for rich and robust styles of wine.
In this class Stephen will be talking about the effects the different soils and climates have on similar grapes and of course tasting some delicious wines!
Your teacher Stephen was classically trained in France and received a degree in wine from the University du Vin at Chateau Suze-la-Rousse. After graduating and returning to the US, he relocated to the Bay area. He began working in numerous high-end restaurants such as Michael Mina and Fleur de Lys. He made multiple trips to France, Italy, Napa, Sonoma, and California's Central Coast wine countries for educational tastings. Stephen has taken his passion for wine, all that he has learned and experience and is now sharing it with you!
