Syrah is one of the world’s most widely planted red grape varietals. Thought to have originated in Shiraz, Iran, the grape has gained fame in France’s Rhone Valley, where the some believe the ancient Romans were the first to plant it. In recent decades, Syrah has also enjoyed widespread success in Australia and California, where similar Mediterranean-style climates and different soil types offer fabulous and unique incarnations of the grape. Join us as we raise a few glasses of Syrah, while stocking up for end-of-season roasts and slowly cooked feasts.
