It’s Mardi Gras time! In New Orleans that means serving King Cake at the end of every party. King Cakes are coffee cakes iced with royal icing and topped with bands of purple, green and gold sugar. They have a baby inserted in the dough to signify the Christ child. Whoever gets the baby in their piece of the cake will have luck for the coming year and will host the next party.
In this class, Chef Mark Cross, a Certified Master Baker, will be demonstrating how to make the dough and how to form, fill and decorate King Cakes.
Also expect to learn how to make other rolls and uses for the Sweet Dough and plan to sample the delicious sweet treats right from the oven.
