About Pietro Beconcini Agricola:

As winemaker for an extraordinary Tuscan winery which began in the early 1950s near San Miniato, Leonardo Beconcini is highly respected in the area for his traditional Chianti and his not so traditional Tempranillo! Under his direction, ancient vines were examined using DNA and identified as Tempranillo, probably brought in the form of seed by Spanish pilgrims headed for Rome hundreds of years ago. Beconcini’ s Tempranillo is not like its Spanish cousin as it reflects its Tuscan terroir and is a modern interpretation that is unique. Leo is solely responsible for the addition of the Tempranillo varietal in IGT Toscana designation!

“There are two fundamental rules in my work, consistency with past decisions, and humility in the process of a continuing desire to learn. These values often contradict each other: the increase in knowledge impels me to make changes that faithfulness to the direction already taken would prevent. I strongly believe that finding the correct balance between these two principles, and paying close attention to our environment and to the vines we grow, will allow us to enjoy the finest possible growth for our winery.”
~Leonardo Beconcini
