The Sommelier of Wine and Spirits Guild (www.spiritsomm.com) is pleased to offer WSET Level 1 Award in Wines program in Phoenix March 10, 2019. Established in 1969 for the UK wine trade, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) has since grown to become the global industry leader in wine and spirits education.
The Level 1 Award in Wines is perfect for wine enthusiasts or for individuals new to wine study. This qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately. Additionally, learn to make appropriate food and wine pairings while via enjoying an interractive tasting menu of the following:
* Roasted Artichoke & Mushroom Toast with Black Truffle Goat Cheese, Caramelized Onion and Sherry Gastrique - Paired with Sauvignon Blanc
* Butter Poached King Crab with Toasted Ciabatta - Paired with Chardonnay
* Portobello Tacos with Guajillo Chile, Avocado, Quinoa, Tomatillo, Cauliflower, Refried Black Beans and Cotija - Paired with Pinot Noir
* Short Rib Potstickers with Toasted Sesame, Mizuna and Ponzu - Paired with Syrah
* Bolognese with Traditional Meat Sauce, Truffle Mushroom Butter and Herbed Ricotta - Paired with a Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot)

Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

Is a professional background or prior knowledge of wine required? No, this program is recommended for anyone with an interest in wine.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? Yes, you must be 21 years of age and over to attend this program.
What is the refund policy? Full refund within 7 days cancellation prior to date of event.
How long is the exam and when do I receive results? 45 minutes is allowed for the multiple choice examination. 70% is the passing percentage. You will receive results within two weeks post receipt of WSET Awards in London.
