Provence and the Rhone

Saturday 6/1/19 to Saturday 6/8/19

Join chef and WSET certified Cynthia Bloebaum for a week of wine, food and culture in Provençe.  Our small group will enjoy the specialties of the region, visit wineries and museums, and discover the joys of southern France.

 We will be staying at a vacation home near Orange, a city of 30,000.  It is 90 minutes from Marseilles, 2 hours from Lyon. There is a train station in Orange, with a TGV from Paris and Lyon.  Chef Cynthia will pick you up from the Marseilles airport or the Orange train station.

The fees include lodging, all ground transportation including pick up and return from airport or local train station, all local guides, all breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the vacation home.

Dinners at restaurants are self paid.

Chef Cynthia suggests that you get trip insurance.


Saturday June 1 Our day's activities depend on everyone’s arrival times.  There are wineries or museums to visit nearby.  If everyone gets in by the afternoon, Chef Cynthia will schedule an activity. We can get acclimated to the area and have a relaxed meal at the house, getting to know each other.


Sunday June 2 Sorgues We will leave the house in the morning and go to the food/flea/antique market in Sorgues.  We can shop for a few days meals, look at collectibles then have lunch in a casual restaurant. There is a local historic soap factory nearby that would be interesting to visit.  We’ll return home for a lazy afternoon that can entail napping, relaxing, drinking local wine, swimming, making dinner with Chef Cynthia


Monday June 3 Tavel and Lirac

We will visit the home of rosé wines.  Our morning winery will be Domaine de la Morderee, then have lunch at a local restaurant.  Our afternoon visits will be at Chateau d’Aqueria and Chateau de Trinquevedel

We’ll return to the vacation home and have a casual dinner.

 Tuesday June 4 Avignon and Chateauneuf -du-Pape We will go to Avignon for a guided food tour of the city, which includes regional cheeses, stops at a bakery and artisanal chocolate maker, ending at Les Halles indoor market. If a visit to Palais du Papes is desired this can be arranged.  We will go to Chateauneuf du Pape for an afternoon wine tasting then to a curated evening food and wine pairing.


Wednesday June 5 Cornas and the tip of the northern Rhone Private tastings at wineries will be  determined (there are so many ones I love.) Our afternoon will be spent either at a winery or exploring the museums of Valence. Chef Cynthia will accommodate the desires of the group. We can go to Anne- Sophie Pic’s store, her bistro or have dinner at her Michelin Starred restaurant in Valence.

Thursday June 6 Les Baux de Provence  We will start our day at the Carrieres de Lumieres, a light filled art museum. Afterward we’ll go to the Castelas Olive Mill for a tour and tasting then have a casual meal nearby. We will have an afternoon wine tasting at Mas de la Dame, followed by a final stop at Domaine Mas Gourgonnier. We can decide our dinner plans when we get back to the vacation home.

 Friday June 7 Gigondas and Vacqueyras We’ll have a morning visit to Domaine Paillere then stop at Chocolaterie Lencieux. Our  lunch at L’Oustalet, known as one of the best restaurants in Provence. Our final wine tasting will be in Vacqueyras, another famous wine village.  

We will finish by eating and drinking anything we still have at the vacation home.

 Saturday June 8 Chef Cynthia will get everyone to their departure site, either driving or by train.

The fee is $2600 per person double occupancy, $2800.00 per single
