SFWTC’s very own Philippe Barazer will be walking us through the French winemaking region he calls, “The Southwest.” Being a native Parisian, and having lived in the South of France gives Philippe his own unique perspectives on what makes a wine southwestern, and it isn’t just the small region from textbooks, nestled between Bordeaux and the Pyrenees. In addition to the wines of Cahors and Montbazillac, the classic Southwest, Philippe’s Southwest also includes the Languedoc, Roussillon, and Basque Country, three neighboring regions in between Provence and the Pyrenees with wines that are equally earthy and mineral-driven. Brace yourself for racy whites, luscious balanced reds, and penetrating, teeth-staining tannin bombs! There’s something for everyone at this unusual tasting.
