Yes, it's that time of year. Beaujolais Nouveau 2018! Fresh off the wine merely weeks ago, this is a traditional "harvest wine" to celebrate the end of autumn and the successful bringing in of the crops. It is meant to be a fun, fruity, easy to drink wine. However, the quality of Beaujolais wines in general has never been better. In the last 10 years or so Beaujolais has become the darling of the sommelier world, initially having been ground-zero in the organic and natural wine movement. Come celebrate really good Beaujolais Nouveau, and truly special "cru" Beaujolais (a high-quality single-village version with 1 of 10 town names on the label, not the regional appelation "Beaujolais"). Fresh, fruity, and friendly on the one hand, and high acid, complex and terroir-driven on the other, these Beaujolais will satisfy both your "inner somm" and your fun wine-drinking self all in one glass.
We will be pouring 2018 Dupeuble Beaujolais Nouveau from Kermit Lynch, and two other "cru" Beaujolais for this tasting. Available all weekend at the bar.
