Tour Overview:
It's The Sound of Music meets Sideways! For this tour, we've combined the Italian Alps and magnificent Dolomites.
Every day, the first part of the day is devoted to hiking. Our routes include scenic wine roads (weinstrasse) in the Adige valley, which cut through vineyards, apple orchards, and forests. We also have our fair share of breathtaking trails up in the Alps and Dolomites mountains, where we reach our trailhead via van or by cable car, gaining 3,000’ of elevation in just a few minutes. None of these hikes require special skills or climbing gear—just a good attitude and a desire for sensational vistas!
During the first half, we also have afternoon winery visits. Lake Caldaro, in the Adige river valley, is the heart of wine country. Here cool-climate grapes thrive, such as gewürztraminer, sauvignon blanc, and pinot grigio, gaining beautiful aromatics in the alpine soil. Red-wine lovers will delight in luscious lagrein and pinot noir. Tastings will spotlight the best producers of the Alto Adige, from top-notch cooperatives in Terlano and Tramin to private, family-run estates such as Tieffenbrunner and Hofstätter.
